I hide until ready to be seen
Look out for my markings
Once seen, be careful
I am deadly to the touch

My loyalties lie in protecting the pride
I am noble in every way
My roar is mighty as well as my bite
For reward I get to sleep all day
The females hunt and catch the food
They also raise the young
I am mighty as a sword
My mane is thick and long

I loved my cat
He was part of me
Not just part of my life
He knew he was mine
Although he was nice to others
But always knowing whose he was
He would come upstairs
Where he knew he wasn't allowed
But it was just to ask me to let him out
I took him in when he was a kitten
He must have known right away
That he was going to be happy
He was my cat his whole life
He always came to sit on my lap
But never in anyone else's
When the time came after 15 years
And he was at the end
Knowing that we had to part
He looked at me with kind eyes
As if to say good-bye
Knowing we had been happy his whole life
My cat loved me
And I still miss him
Yes, I loved my cat
